Want to know if active 3dTV sets will make it possible to use passive glasses?

i have an LG that uses active glasses for 3d, will they be implementing something in the future to facilitate the use of passive glasses, since they dont need an IR decoder like active i dont understand why those tv sets cant use the simpler tech
