Can't play DVD on laptop computer?

I put a DVD into my computer and tried to play it using windows media player but a message popped up that said "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card." What does this mean? How can I watch the DVD, do I need to install something?
