Why does the exhaust hose have to be disconnected from the window for a UberHaus port. AC to use dehumid?

I have an UberHaus portable air conditioner with a fan, and dehumidifier function. Now it tells me that in order to use either of those functions, I have to disconnect the exhaust hose from the window. It doesn't say WHY - so I was wondering just that. Why?
